Power pop is basically a style of pop that is charecterized by a
strong melody line, heavy use of guitars, and a simple rhythm.
Dance pop is differnt to power pop in that it is more danceable
to as it has an up-tempo music for nightclubs and is
used in contemporary radio, this subgenre originated in the early
1980s. Synth pop while a subgenre to pop is unique in it's own
way. This subgenre uses a synthesizer as the dominant musical
instrument, and creates music that we are familiar with.
Such as electropop and technopop. Pop music while
may be considered just the music that is currently
popular is considered a genre of it's own that
has subgenres to it. Making this more than just
popular music that was voted on by the general population.
Pop music has a lot of categories that
fit into it, many artists can be considered
pop artists. As well as the
type of music from folk music to rap music. Anything
can be categorized as Pop.
